    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course (even though it is required for Petroleum Engineers) because I truly learned a lot about drilling and well control. It is a very hands-on course, which forces you to learn the material more than just memorizing some equations for a test.

    Course highlights:

One highlight from the course was drilling and practicing well control on the drilling simulator during the lab sections. I feel like I learned a lot about when to recognize a kick in the well and circulating it out in order to prevent a blowout. Another highlight of the course was going on a field trip to a drilling rig and physically seeing and discussing the components of the rig.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, make sure you go to the lectures and pay attention. When I took the class, they did clicker questions and asked many of them in rapid succession. Also make sure to really pay attention and give full effort when on the drilling simulator. You will need to know how to handle a kick for the midterm and final.
