This class was tough.
This is a very difficult class that is required for the Mechanical Engineering major. It is designed in such a way that you have a lot of homework with little reward for doing it, and how well you do hinges on how well you can prepare for and take tests. The tests are worth 85% of the grade, this puts a lot of stress on the students to do well on the tests and makes it really easy for students to blow off the homework. While this format may suit some students, for a large majority it does not work and therefore has a much higher than normal fail and retake rate.
This professor is good at helping students one on one. However, he struggles in the classroom to stay on topic, and some of the stories he uses as an analogy to help explain concepts are convoluted and confusing.

Advice for students:
In reality, the best way to do well in the course is to DO THE HOMEWORK! if you don't the tests will kill you. In regards to the homework, the solutions manual which is not your friend doesn't use or rely on it.
