    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to strong science students with a diligent work ethic and a great deal of patience. Organic chemistry will be difficult no matter who teaches the course or how, but what I wish I'd known from the beginning is the importance of organization. As soon as you learn a new mechanism, write it down. Write down the starting materials, product, and any reagents and intermediates. Learning reaction mechanisms is the bulk of the course, and is impossible to do without excellent organization.

    Course highlights:

I learned the very minute details of the ways in which chemical reactions proceed. This was extremely helpful in clarifying larger-picture concepts in the field of chemistry, as I was provided very detailed explanations of why different reactions happen in the ways that they do.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Learning orgo takes time. The course demands a new way of thinking about chemistry, and I had to devote at least an hour each day to the study of new mechanisms and principles in order to wrap my head around the complexities of them. I would recommend leaving enough space in your schedule to devote sufficient time to the course, enlisting the support of a peer tutor if possible (they can give you study advice, warnings about exams, and help with solving problems), and staying organized with detailed study guides right from the very beginning of the course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

He seems to lecture more for the labs, than for the tests.

    Course highlights:

I hate tha LBCC allows these difficult upper level science classes to ONLY be taught by one professor, ie chem and physics.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Worst instructor in the world.
