Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this class because if you view yourself a "mediocre writer" or the subject of writing intimidates you, this class is made for you.

After taking this class I know longer was scared to write a paper or thought of myself as "inadequate" sitting in a college English class. It was by far the most fun class I have taken!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is an awesome college level English course that I was able to take in high school. It was an exciting and engaging course with interesting material.

    Course highlights:

In this course, we focused on so many different things! We read literature that had been banned from some schools, controversial short stories, and poems that are part of the literature cannon. It was so much fun to look at all these different styles and techniques, and allowed me to improve my own writing and work with students who had the same goal. I was able to collaborate with these students to find real life situations to which we could apply the material of which we were reading. In the course, we were also allowed creative freedom to come up with our own final product for a project focused on the reasons that authors write. Along with this final product, we were allowed to choose any book to read, as long as we could come up with reasons as to why the author of the book chose to write it. The project let me reflect on the reasons why I write, and to look at how I write. Overall, this course taught me so much about myself and my writing and compare my own reasons to those of professional authors and improve in those areas that I found I can improve on.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Throw your whole heart into it. If you want to get out of it what I did, you have to decide to be creative with whatever assignment you are given, no matter how hard, inconvenient, or pointless it may seem. Enjoy the experience and try not to complain about it too much!
