Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it gives insight into identifying not only your own thoughts and beliefs but to determine what others might think as well. It teaches you to have a different perspective when speaking with others, instead of seeing everything as one-sided to fit your own belief. It also dives into topics such as mental illnesses and those who may be addicted to drugs or alcohol. It changes you as a person because you can better understand that sometimes, people don't necessarily want to be a certain way, it's just the way their brains are programmed.

    Course highlights:

I learned that each and every person is truly unique. Their minds are shaped by many different influences. It gives a better understanding to be able to fill in pieces that you might have missed before about certain people. You start to learn to ask questions about why someone may be or feel the way they do, as well learning how to cope with them and help them if needed. It honestly makes you see that everyone has something going on. No one is perfect. No one feels perfect all the time and that is what makes us all human. We all feel certain things and it helps you relate to those around you. Instead of just seeing them as strangers, you start to feel more of a connection solely based on the idea that we all go through similar situations and feelings.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely recommend looking through the chapters before class, writing the terms down and at least trying to understand what they mean. Maybe relate people or situations to these terms so that you can remember the differences between each of them. Coming to class prepared beforehand helps so that instead of hearing these things for the first time and taking class time to try to understand them, you already have a small idea of what they are and can ask better questions.
