Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I enjoyed this class a lot. I learned a lot of new material and after finishing the course I feel like I have a better understanding of the science of biology. Biology is an important subject because it is the study of life and all living creatures.

    Course highlights:

The highlight in the course for me was the study of genetics and the study of evolution. Both subjects are very important because they affect our daily lives. The study of genetics has been such an outstanding break through in modern science it it important that everyone learn about it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to students taking this course is that it is extremely important to show up for all the classes and participate in all the lab activities. The lab activities are the best way to prove your understanding of the concepts.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class and professor at Columbia College inspired me later in life to go back and pursue biology. Her passion behind her work is incredible. Even though I was enrolling in a program for music business management, I have since felt compelled to seek a new career that gives back to the world, and I have Dr. Rafacz to thank for it.

    Course highlights:

As a project, we studied animals at Lincoln Park Zoo, the way a zoologist would for monitoring behavior and documenting patterns. I love that we were able to leave the classroom and get an up close look at a career that isn't even offered at Columbia! This truly inspired me to the point of wanting a career change.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Absorb all of this knowledge. The living world is incredibly important and it does not get enough attention. We should all be contributing to the nature and through this course, you can learn a thing or two about how to give back.
