Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The class gave a good oversight of business financing researching the information on multiple companies. There was a large learning curve from the class that was challenging but very informative.

    Course highlights:

The course pulls from being able to understand how to read balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. This can also be used to help with investing into a company by being able to research their profits and earnings over the last few years.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Depending on the professor will decide the level of grading for the course. Take your time and have a good understanding of the APA format. The project throughout the course is reviewed multiple times before grading, making it easier to score well on the class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Joyce has an incredible way of making BUSN 5200 applicable to what you are interested in. We got an opportunity to dive into a company that we wanted to study and learn about the financial management of the company from the inside out. His knowledge in this subject allowed him to explain how each aspect of business correlated to the next. I can not say enough about this instructor. I'm hoping to take many more classes with Dr. Joyce.

    Course highlights:

I studied NIKE Inc. for my company and I learned so much about the athletic shoe and apparel industry. My studies were guided and focused on the profitability aspect of the company to the point that I am going to invest into this company myself. It was a great way of learning about Finance for Managers without someone talking to you and killing you with slide presentations or teaching you a book.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take this class with Dr. Joyce. Do not take the easy way out and pick a boring company that you have no interest in. Pick a company that will allow you to explore, investigate and learn. You will become so intimately familiar with this company that you will probably want to buy stock in it or you will be able to tell if it has growth potential that matches your goals. Have fun with it.
