    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The Orientation to counseling course is a great course. It gives a real look in to the counseling career. It can help you decide if you want to proceed further with studying counseling. All of the rewards and difficult issues in the career are discussed in this course.

    Course highlights:

This course helped me to decide if counseling was the career for me. The highlights of this course was learning about how counselors sometimes can have personal value differences from their clients and also that there is something called counselor burnout, This is when counselors are overwhelmed with their job. Also that counselors have a supervisor over them to talk with when the have ethical issues. These things were good to hear about in my first counseling course so that there were no surprises about the challenges of the career.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This is a good course to take. My advice would be to practice and get very good at searching for professional articles relating to your topic. Also, I would suggest students of this course to have the writing center help with your writing assignments.
