Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This multicultural class is truly an eyeopener. The biases and perspectives human beings hold on one another are often distorted by what others, the media, books, or preconceived notions have told us. Often, these are invalid truths. When we delve into the experience of learning about one another and what each one faces and walks through, we can have a better understanding of each other and meet one another where we are.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was a Cultural Immersion Project. There were three parts: 1. chose a culture and research it, then write about it. 2. Immerse yourself in that culture. 3. Conduct an interview. I chose to do mine on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) culture. What I found that there were many preconceived ideas about this group I had establish not even realizing it. It was fascinating to be able to interact and interview people from this group with an open mind and heart.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Reach outside of your comfort zone. Do not set limits or boundaries to where you feel led to explore. Search your own heart and mind for any judging attitudes or thoughts so that you may better prepare yourself to learn from this experience.
