    Course Overview:

    The teacher for this class is particularly familiar with the subject matter considering her personal history and background is that of a culturally diverse person, who is considered a minority in the US. She brings a great perspective to the course

    Course highlights:

    This course teaches students about the various differences among cultures, races, and orientations, while applying this learning to the mental health field. In order for students to become culturally competent psychologists they must first take a course like this one that deepens understanding on the subject matter

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Start working on your research paper early, giving yourself plenty of time to find a topic, do the research and write a thorough paper. Come prepared for class discussion and also be prepared to participate in class discussions. Make sure you stay on top of the reading as there is a lot in this course.

    Course Overview:

    This course covers the various cultural, gender, racial, and systemic differences and issues in the context of mental health. The course also speaks on diversity among people to educated students on serious issues such as racism and prejudice.

    Course highlights:

    This course will teach students a great deal on how to be culturally competent in the filed of psychology and when working with diverse populations. This course is informative in various cultural differences and nuances that allow students to learn different ways of thinking along with how to conceptualize a case from a position that fully accounts for cultural variations.

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    To study before class, make sure to do all the reading. Start working on the research paper early and make sure to put a lot of time and effort into exam preparations. Pay attention in class and stay engaged by asking good questions and taking notes.
