    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a physical examination and health assessment course that is fundamental in caring for patients. It teaches the signs and symptoms of diseases. On completion of the course, one is able to link ailments with associated symptom cues.

    Course highlights:

The highlights include head to toe assessment as well as assessing the individual systems of the body. I learnt how to assess body systems and organs using inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation techniques. These help to detect any abnormalities which will lead to nursing diagnoses, and then developing a plan to deal with health issues.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You need to read stipulated chapters of the text book before class, so that new terms will not be strange to you. Key to mastering the different assessment procedures is constant practice on peers or family members whenever possible.
