    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because it helps you take look into what fibers are, how they're made, they're various uses in and throughout the fashion industry.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about fabrics and the fundamentals to what they're for. You get a swatch book that pretty much shows you an example of every type of fiber and common fiber combinations (i.e. polyester and cotton or Acrylic and nylon).

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to make lots of notes. Literally from the time class starts, you'll be copying whats on the board as the teacher writes. I can get very mundane at times but the teacher will tell you some funny stories to liven it up here and there. Do NOT be afraid to ask questions. If you show potential in this class, there's a chance you will be chosen for a special group that gets to meet with very special visitors to the school!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you have to take this course definitely take it with Durant-Hamm. The course in general is very cool but even better with Durant-hamm. She is very direct and tells it how it is. She also makes it very easy to understand the work.

    Course highlights:

The course is slept into two sections. One is about learning about the content of fabrics and the other is about dying fabric. Dying fabric was really fun during the course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to be organized and complete sections before due dates.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This coarse can be very hard if one doesn't take the time to learn the material, but if one does take the time this class is can be really fun. Mrs. Durant-Hamm is a great teacher who really enjoys her students but she doesn't sugar coat things. She wants you to succeed but at the same time she wants you to under stand how the real industry works. In the end this coarse takes a lot of work but don't be afraid of it. It is really satisfying when you look back at all of the great things you learned because of the hard work you put into the class.

    Course highlights:

This class was satisfying over all. In the class, you learn how to look and fabric and identify what kind it is and what it's best use would be. This class gives you the building blocks you need for other classes and the industry. Once one learns textile science and can identify different fabrics, thats a skill not many people have and in the future potentially gets you the job.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

There are a lot of different things that are said about this class. My advice to students wanting to take it would be ignore everything other students have said. In the end how this class is wether it is hard or easy is up to you. Don't be afraid to put the work. Ask your questions and reread some of the material if necessary. Believe me, it will be worth it someday.
