Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This coarse can be very hard if one doesn't take the time to learn the material, but if one does take the time this class is can be really fun. Mrs. Durant-Hamm is a great teacher who really enjoys her students but she doesn't sugar coat things. She wants you to succeed but at the same time she wants you to under stand how the real industry works. In the end this coarse takes a lot of work but don't be afraid of it. It is really satisfying when you look back at all of the great things you learned because of the hard work you put into the class.

    Course highlights:

This class was satisfying over all. In the class, you learn how to look and fabric and identify what kind it is and what it's best use would be. This class gives you the building blocks you need for other classes and the industry. Once one learns textile science and can identify different fabrics, thats a skill not many people have and in the future potentially gets you the job.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

There are a lot of different things that are said about this class. My advice to students wanting to take it would be ignore everything other students have said. In the end how this class is wether it is hard or easy is up to you. Don't be afraid to put the work. Ask your questions and reread some of the material if necessary. Believe me, it will be worth it someday.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is A LOT of work but its try to see the positives and learn as much as you can. I'm a Product Development Major and I was truly interested in the subject. The course is fast but it really made me learn the material.

    Course highlights:

If you take the course with BJSims, you will cover mostly weaves and only cover knits for a week or two. You will be a woven fabric master by the end of the quarter, and be able to name the basic weaves and complex weaves/fabric names.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The swatch pages take time (you do at least three in the quarter)! The swatch page basically requires you to find certain types of fabrics and identify the fabric/construction and provide an end use. Finding the fabrics takes the most amount of time and its nearly impossible to get an A with out putting sometime into the assignment.
