Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In any situation there is the ethical thing and the moral thing to do. They don't always have the same outcome. Taking this class I found the ethical codes required by anyone in the law field sometimes are hard to swallow. Everyone knows that it is not ok for a lawyer or paralegal to talk about a client or a case, but it is also considered working without a license to help your mom fill out a legal document if you are giving her advice on how to word it. This class is very beneficial to anyone who is looking to go into even business, but definitely any sort of law field.

    Course highlights:

I am about halfway through this course and I thought it would be easy. I consider my self an ethical person. This course definitely teaches how to protect the clients confidences. There is a lot on the ethical standards that are key in the law field. I learned that to tell someone where a legal document can be found is ok, but to tell them which one to use for their case is considered unauthorized practice of the law. Something so small in our eyes is against the law. I also learned that if your client tells you in confidence he is the actual murder for a case being tried against another person, you can not tell anyone you know the person on trial for that murder is innocent. It would break the attorney-client confidence set forth in the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Remember ethics and morals are different. Also, anything learned about a clients case is 100% confidential and can not be talked about even if you use a hypothetical. It is also easy to fall into the role of practicing law without a license just by helping a friend.

It tells us the proper way for someone in this profession how to behave or should behave.

    Course highlights:

Thing's that most people never think about and when we do see someone in one of these profession acting without ethics, the thing's that a person need to do in order to make things right.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To listen to the your professor and never miss one seminar. Always ask questions. The laws changes often and it's always things new to learn. Their will be a lot of things you have never thought about before. However, the most important one of all is, you will never look at law the same way after taking this class. (ENJOY!)
