This class was tough.
Having never taken biology in school before, I can say that this was the hardest course I've taken thus far. However, I learned so many new things about my own body that I found myself dedicating a lot of time to researching the topics that were being discussed.
The course emphasizes the processes of life from the molecular work of genes and proteins to human organ systems, all the way up to food webs and overpopulation. Practical applications of biology in everyday life are stressed throughout the course.

Advice for students:
Take notes in seminar because the topics that come up in the discussion board are covered in detail in the course book. Also, because the discussion boards ask so many different questions, they are more like mini-essays. As such, you want to dedicate time for research because of the amount of time it takes to respond to the topics. There are no quizzes, but units 2, 4, 6 and 9 have essay assignment due. While unit 8 has a PowerPoint presentation due.
