Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to every medical billing and coding student as a sure way to review and apply knowledge acquired before graduation. It has a virtual lab setting, where it is comparable to the work-field. Students will get more familiar with what to expect when they get their certification and begin their career.

    Course highlights:

In order of excitement from first occurring in the course to last, I would mention the fact that there is no seminar for the course first! Before beginning this course, it was my favorite for that simple reason! Ha! Then when we got to the unit 1 start date, I realized this was a huge stepping stone into the workplace. I loved how we could actually code and be graded on it, giving us some experience before it is detrimental to the company's success!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't slack! Just because this course is only worth 3 credits, and it doesn't have a seminar, doesn't mean you will pass if you give little effort. The benefit from this class isn't in the grade as much as in your personal growth towards being a professional coder.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class helped me to really understand the different certifications. Prior to starting class, I didn't really know there were that many certification options, and examinations to take. It also helped me to freshen up my CPT coding experience.

    Course highlights:

You will learn to build on the concepts and skills of program courses, specifically medical billing and coding. You will also gain additional hours of practical experience in medical billing, coding, and administrative functions in a virtual lab setting.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely brush up on your CPT/PCS coding. It is used in the tests, and if you have forgotten it, you will not pass them.
