    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

My professor was stellar-patient, helpful, exceptional in her field and willing to spend as much time needed to help students not just grasp, but truly understand the material. Organic Chemistry is infamous for its difficulty. However, my professor was patient in explaining concepts and her humor made the class atmosphere more cheerful. It is definitely to your advantage to read the chapters of the textbook (multiple times), go to office hours, check out library books on Organic Chemistry and scour youtube for tutorials. That's what I did and I finished with a B! Use every medium to understand the material!

    Course highlights:

My professor definitely made the course. She was patient, kind, even humorous and she set the bar high. The lessons in understanding difficult material (like actually do your homework), staying positive and attempting hard things will stay with me and inspire me in my future classes.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

-Do not worry about the comments of friends when you mention that you will be taking Organic Chemistry. I actually found that I did better (and even enjoyed) my Organic Chemistry class more than my General Chemistry class. -Study at least a little bit every day-no 3-4 hour study sessions once or twice a week! Those intense study sessions will not actually help you master the material, but instead stress you more than you need to be stressed! Be willing to set aside some time every day to at least read the textbook or do a few problems. Those few minutes, even when you don't feel in the mood, will certainly help you in the long run! You must train yourself to do things even when you don't feel in the mood. -It's a great feeling when you are still in the class when so many others have dropped. Your choices to study when you didn't feel like it or skip a friend's get together or wake early to get to your professors' office hours do really pay off.
