Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course was great! Professor Reuther is really great at explaining the material thoroughly and answers questions with an in depth answer. Online quizzes with answers online. It's important to go to class! since all material he tests on comes straight from his lecture slides and what he says. He also tests and quizzes on the material covered in discussion and attendance is required for discussion.

    Course highlights:

You learn all the basics of biology. If you took a high school biology class, you'll recognize a lot of overlap in the material covered. Cell development and functions is a big portion.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely go to class and pay attention in lecture because all the test and quiz material comes from the lectures. Professor doesn't require a book and a book is not necessary because his lecture slides are in depth. I think he still podcasts his classes too.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it really set the foundation for what future biology classes are like. Many of the upper division courses stem from material learned in this class. This class also reminded me of a lot of the material I had forgotten in high school.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the cell, cell function, and genetics. I learned a lot about the function of the cell, and the different processes that occur in order to keep your body healthy. I also learned a lot about genetics, and the different processes that occur in order for an offspring to inherit both mother and father genotypes.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you really want to succeed in this course I would recommend not taking notes during lecture. Rather, actively listen and try to understand the concepts. Once lecture is over, then you would listen to the podcast and take notes on that. I would also recommend reviewing the material over and over until it makes sense. I also recommend watching videos on certain subjects that you are unsure about. Also, definitely attend office hours! Office hours is what really allowed me to succeed in this course.
