    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Very informational and a necessary requirement for many biology majors.

    Course highlights:

I learned metabolic pathways and how they work.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice is to pre-study the material before lectures and attend lectures. It can help tie the material together.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course material itself is very interesting to learn and is so applicable to everyday life. The professor, Coleman, makes the class super interesting and funny. He explains all the concepts so well and leads us through the pathways in order to help us make connections.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were definitely learning about diabetes and about the urea cycle. Although these were small fun facts, it really put to test your knowledge about metabolic pathways in order to understand. One really interesting fact is that in the old days you could tell someone had diabetes because their breath smelled like acetone or their pee was sweet. The pathways that are turned on through a decrease in insulin (the cause of diabetes) creates acetone and prevents sugars in the blood from being taken up. Theres a reason for even the little things and its cool to fully understand just a part of the world that goes on every day.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely know that this is not an easy course. The material is fun to learn but does contain a lot of memorization that needs to be done. My advice to you would be to start early! The earlier you look at the material, the easier it will be to cram everything later.
