    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is THE course that will get you through your technical interviews for a software job. You learn all the standard computer science concepts (algorithms, data structures) and apply them through weekly programming assignments that will take dozens of hours to complete, but the success in each assignment is as satisfying as homework can be.

    Course highlights:

The programming assignments, ironically, are the highlights. Through working in the labs and getting on long lines to seek help from tutors, you learn not only how to create clean code and to move forward when you're completely stuck, you also learn how to work with people. We're all stuck together, we all have segmentation faults (when your code crashes!), and the tutors are always there to help. In order to complete these coding assignments, we all learned to dig deep into the details and be thorough with our code.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Don't try to take shortcuts. You have to develop a deep understanding of all the algorithms and concepts, as well as the syntax of the language in order to succeed. You have to stick your head in StackOverflow and figure the details out!! You'll spend a lot of time but it will be worth it in the end especially if you're seeking a job in software development.
