I learned exactly how carbs, proteins, lipids, vitamins, minerals, etc affect the body. Why each is necessary for the body and the way the body uses each of them. I learned how too many of each specific nutrient will affect the body and also how deficiencies of nutrients will affect a person. Many diseases and conditions, such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes mellitus, and COPD are affected by nutrition and we discussed nutrition plays a role in these illnesses. I gained knowledge of how important nutrition is and I have made personal changes in my diet since taking the course.
