    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Anthropology is an interesting field of study and the introductory class taught at UIC aims to highlight the most interesting aspects of the discipline.

    Course highlights:

The majority of the course was centered around a single book the student was required to read. The book itself is very interesting and easy to get through as each chapter delves into some of the most bizarre aspects of human cultural practices.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the required book, write good essays and participate in discussions.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because the professor was a very great and although the material itself can sometimes be boring, the professor is a great speaker. He gives great stories and will really try to help you earn a good grade. There is a lot of reading, but it's definitely necessary if you want to do well.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the beginnings of how cultures develop and the progression of culture. The best part was applying what we learned of the past to today.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely do the reading. Read the text, take notes. Go to the lectures and take notes too. Even attend discussions because with the amount of material you are given, you need as much repetition as possible.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This was probably one of the most interesting courses I’ve ever taken. I would it because it is not too difficult and you will learn so many new topics.

    Course highlights:

We learned about other cultures and how we can best look at them from our own individual perceptions. We also looked at how to study other people as an anthropologist.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest actually going to lecture and doing the reading. We read some chapter books and you need to read this to do well in the class.
