    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This biology course specifically is in my opinion of course I feel like everyone should take you no matter what your major is. It's the introduction to learning about life literally. The way that Dr. Burns teaches allows you to inform yourself and become more educated on the things about life that you never knew that you should. Although it may be the introduction course it goes into so much detail about the human life and earth.

    Course highlights:

The highlights from this course were definitely the times that I was challenged. From quizzes and exams to the lessons everything challenged me and made me become more of a thinker and strategizer

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice that I would give students considering taking this course is to definitely purchase the biology 211 book. That textbook will definitely help you and save your life and answer questions that you're too afraid to ask the professor. Also use the professors office hours wisely. If you need help definitely go see them they're always there to help.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone, whether or not they are majoring in biology. It was a class a learned a tremendous amount of information in. Every piece of information I learned is always somehow tying into my every day to day life.

    Course highlights:

I learned so much that I do not even know where to begin. The highlight of this course was definitely the lab portion of it. Lab was always intriguing and fun. I learned a lot but the most interesting topic was definitely learning about the Ecosystem. It was an eye opening lecture for me as I realized all the dangers that human beings inflict on the Earth every single day. Global warming was a topic that came up and we went more into depth on that. Methane and carbon dioxide are two of the greenhouse gases that we discussed. I learned that unlike carbon dioxide which is in out atmosphere for 80-120 years, methane is only in our atmosphere for 15 year buts it is 25 times more warming than carbon dioxide. Global warming can be accounted for an increase in disease, sea levels, and many other harmful instances. Bio 211 made me want to make a difference in the world and spread awareness of the alarming increase in global warming.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course you have to put in the time. You have to study a lot and over time, it is difficult to take in all the information the night before an exam. This is not a course that you can wing--you have to really comprehend the material and memorize every single detail. I highly recommend typing out your notes after every single lecture and keeping your binder very organized and neat. It would also be very helpful to spend an hour after every lecture memorizing the notes therefore you will not be overwhelmed with the amount of information the night before an exam.
