Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course completely because Stiechen is the best professor you could possibly imagine having dor a speech class! Speech is a little nerve wracking to begin with, but Stiechen makes you feel completely at home and supports you the entire time you're up giving a speech in front of two dozen people.

    Course highlights:

I learned that everyone hates to speak in front of others. I knew I wasn't the only one when on speech day, everyone was sweaty, shakey, and quite as a mouse. It was so much easier to give a speech in front of a class who was only worried about when they had to go up next. I learned to be such a better speaker.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't freak out, and don't procrastinate. I had to write two separate papers for one speech so I could recite it verbatim. But that's just me, if you get nervous easily and tend to freeze up and forget what you were talking about, there will be a lot more work for you to do.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Introduction to speech is a course many people dread. That's because most people didn't get to take it with Mrs. Parker. My experience in this class was a great one. Not only did she teach us how to prepare speeches, she taught us that all people get nervous and that's okay. She showed how everyone is human and there's nothing to be afraid of. With this confidence, this class and subject became one of my favorites.

    Course highlights:

Speech writing and giving is a very important skill. I learned that most all people will have to give a speech at some point in their life whether it's due to their career or hobbies. With that in mind, I was able to tackle the speeches and give them my own personal touch. I was taught that I needed to speak on my audience's level. With these tools, I feel confident that whatever speeches my future holds, I'm ready for them.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid. Don't build up premonitions about this class. If you approach it with an open mind, you'll be surprised how manageable and even enjoyable public speaking can be.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Parker is an excellent teacher whom will walk you through any problems that you may encounter. She takes the time to fully explain all coursework so that everyone can understand what is needed.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course are the different speeches that are to be done. My favorite was the brown paper bag speech. This speech helped students open up by explaining 3 details about their life which are important to them. I felt it made talking in front of my fellow classmates much easier.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

She gives many assignments that are to be done during class. If you miss an unexcused class any assignments that were done during that class would be counted as an 0%. Thus bringing your grade down.
