Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Matthews is a great teacher. I learned a lot and I loved going to class because the way he spoke of history related it to how it affects us today even if the event happened millennia beforehand.

    Course highlights:

I learned that everything I was taught about the Civil War and its outcome in high school was the result of a South acquirement of history over how the war played out in their eyes.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class because he goes over a lot of the material. Even so, the class is great and professor Matthews is an outstanding narrator of history.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I recommend taking this class with this professor you will get so much more out of the class. There are a total of 5 quizzes and 2 written exam papers: One for the midterm and one for the final. The quizzes are multiple choice and they almost are verbatim from a study guide that the professor hands out before each quiz. If you know the answers to all the study guide questions, you're pretty much prepared for the quizzes. As for the exam papers, they are easy to write. You will be given guidelines and "commandments" as to how to effective write a great essay paper. The TA's will be there to help you and they will make that you pass if you show ounce of effort.

    Course highlights:

I learned to take notes that the professor had on the electronic board and to add bonus notes when he did not stick strictly to the notes. I learned about Ancient Greece and the poleis, Carthage, The Roman Empire, feudalism, The Protestant Reformation, Scientific Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, Nationalism and Absolute Monarchy, WWI and WWII. These are some of the topics that were discussed in this class with this professor and they were interesting to learn about. The professor told these lessons as if they were a story and it was not boring at all! You will not regret it if you enroll in this class for the fall semester, I promise!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes that the professor has written on the electronic board and make sure you come to every class. Even though attendance is not mandatory for this class, it is still recommended that you come to class and take notes and listen to what the professor is talking about in the lesson. The textbook is not required but recommended the professor will occasionally tell students to read from his "Primary Sources" that are pertinent to his lessons. Some of them will appear on quizzes, so be sure to read the "Primary Sources" and the textbook if you have it. Make sure to buy scantrons when quiz day comes because the professor will not hand out scantrons to everyone. Bring a #2 pencil or class or a mechanical pencil/eraser, some paper, and you will be prepared for success in this class.
