Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Harley knows how to break down the fundamentals of accounting so that students who are not majoring in accounting can fully understand the content being taught. He has a good sense of humor and try to make each class enjoyable.

    Course highlights:

You learn the basic fundamentals of Accounting without diving too deep into details. He goes over balance sheets, income statements, journal entries and debit & credits. He comes up with clever real life scenarios to help the class better understand the lesson.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Take good notes in class! He tell you what to expect on the exam in class. He will tell you what section in each chapter to read so you don't end up reading the entire chapter.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a required class for every student in the School of Business. This class is hard, so you have to study. The average on most exams is between 50-60%, so that's proof you have to invest time in studying. The average is the same no matter which professor you choose. The class is heavily controlled by the Accounting Department, so the professors cannot do much to change the exams. What they can do though is prepare you for those exams. Professor Harley is a very good teacher. He repeats himself sometimes, but only on materials that are on the exams. Come prepaid to learn.

    Course highlights:

The majority of the class is financial accounting. So journals are heavily involved. Each exam always has at least 10 journals.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Whenever the professor repeats something multiple times, do not take it as him being a broken. Those are huge hints for questions that are on the exam. I highly recommend that you record the lectures. The professor does talk fast, so it's easy to fall behind. Record and listen again at home. The most important strategy to do well in this class is doing the connect questions over and over. We do have online assignments on McGraw-Hill's Connect and some questions on the exam come straight from there.
