Pretty easy, overall.
Professor Yoder is honestly one of the best teachers I've had during my freshman/sophomore year. This is mainly a drawing class, with some painting and collage work. Even if you aren't the best artist, Professor Yoder will teach you how to improve by giving workshops and advice. He constantly walks around the classroom helping students with their assignments. There is never any homework because all assignments are done in class. The only reason to work outside of class is if you are behind on an assignment.
You'll learn the fundamentals of drawing like perspective, negative space, color, and tones. The highlight of the class is the freedom that Professor Yoder gives all his students. He gives a general description of the assignments in the syllabus then allows his students to go in whatever direction they want for the subject matter. For example, for the tone assignment I drew a birthday cake because my birthday was near while other students drew characters and landscapes. Due to this allowance, the critiques are always interesting because we are not looking at the same picture 25 times.

Advice for students:
Even when you think you are finished an assignment, Professor Yoder will always push you to enhance your piece. If you are unsure of the assignment do not hesitate to ask the professor for help because he will work with you until you get it even if that requires another workshop.
