    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course with this Professor especially if your majoring in business or accounting. The Professor relates almost every concept we learn to the real world. Also, the Professor created an excel worksheet that will help you calculate your current grade in the class. In addition, if you score high enough on your final exam she drops your lowest test score. She also allows you to take one test/exam at home.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course is the project you have to do. The monopoly project is the best project for students to do because you really learn how the accounting cycle works. First you and a group of classmates play a game of monopoly. The objective of the game was to make multiple of transactions and record it. Once all of your transactions were recorded you would have to make a set of financial statements. This means for example, you would have to calculate the interest you accumulated on you loans and calculate the accumulated depreciation and depreciation expense you gained on your long term assets. Once all of you calculations are done you would have to create (only going to list a few) a General Journal, Worksheet, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, etc. When I was doing it I messed up a lot and had to go on the internet and reread some chapters in my text book to make my financial statements perfect. After days of screaming at my computer, once I finished I cherished my project like gold. My accounting professor loved it so much she kept it to show to her other students. The monopoly project is the best project I ever did school. All the hard work you put in this course shows in this project and once you complete you would understand the accounting cycle.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The biggest advice I would give to to students considering this course is read the book. I had a tough time in class because I never read my text book before showing up. I always however read every chapter before test days. If accounting is your major you should really aim to get an A in this class. I got an A in the course because I studied for my all of my tests and final exam for hours, got all A's on my homework, and got an A on my monopoly project. You should be able to get an A in the if you put in the work. If your having trouble don't be afraid to go the Professor's office hours and ask for help. The homework is difficult but you can redo a question as many times as you want until you get the right answer (homework is online). For every test she allows you to take a mock test as many times as you want which is extremely helpful since some of the questions are similar.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This specific class with Paxton is really good. It is a lot of work and you really have to stay on top of it, however, he offers a lot of extra credit. Do the extra credit!! It is there for a reason.

    Course highlights:

I learned by taking extra credit like it is required, it can change your grade by a letter. Of course, that really depends on the class and teacher, but that is what it did for me.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I know it is a lot of work, but try to do as much as possible. Try to do the practice and extra credit like it is graded because it will help you remember the material a lot better.
