Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Is a good intro to all of the different sections of Biology

    Course highlights:

It didn't go too in depth. Had a great all around background for Biology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to the class and pay attention.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The course is great as an easy science credit, but I would not take it with professor Bade. He is not very helpful when it comes to trying to understand the material. I recommend the course highly! Just not the professor.

    Course highlights:

The main point for this course is basically just the same as a 9th grade biology class. Basic, but will teach you the necessary materials that help you become more involved with science.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you love science then definitely take this course or if you are just needing a science credit this is the course for you. Make sure you study, do the homework, and do your reading. Especially the reading, Professor Bade is huge on reading!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course not only because biology is a passion of mine, but because everyone should take a course that teaches them about the basics of life. Cells, proteins, and genetic material may not seem all that interesting at first, but discovering how they all work together to create a functional whole can be quite amazing. While some students may not enjoy how material is covered - in lectures and power points - Dr. VanPutte was wonderful at answering any questions and was quite active in trying to get students to participate in the discussion. He is a wonderful teacher and helped me to develop my love for everything there is about the science of biology.

    Course highlights:

From taking this course, I learned a multitude about cells and what is necessary for life to occur. I learned about conditions that were necessary for the first strains of life to come to be, and how scientists today are still trying to study and understand how this life developed. But from this course, I gained more than just information. I gained insight into science and what biology really is, along with friendships that I formed along the way by both helping and getting help from my classmates. I even formed a bond with the professor, which is a major accomplishment because I know he will be happy to help me down the line in getting internships or even just answering questions. I gained a lot from this course and hope to gain more from other courses in the future.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Biology is not always easy for people to understand. Even I, though I am majoring in biology, found myself asking questions and making sure I understood the information thoroughly by reading the textbook and any information given in the class. For this class, and even others, I would recommend taking up time to go to office hours and giving themselves a chance to read the book and other assignments. It makes a difference, and if done right, will make final exams not so stressful when they pop up.
