Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to other students because I felt it went more in depth about the various fields of psychology. I had previously taken a different course in a community college, a psyc101 course and I just felt it was too similar to my psychology class in high school. However, this course went beyond what I learned in high school and while the level of difficulty also increased I felt myself understanding the field of psychology a bit more and realizing that while the road would be difficult it would be worth it.

    Course highlights:

What I learned from taking this course is just how much psychology was a part of our every day lives. As I was taking this course I was also taking two other courses that at times would connect with what I was learning. For example, during my music class we discussed the second week what pitch, frequency, and amplitude were and their role in music. Two weeks later in chapter 4 of my psyc course it was brought up again and I felt more confident in really knowing those terms later for the test. I was also surprised at the some terms I had not previously learned, such as the Ponzo illusion and the horizontal-vertical illusion.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for students considering taking this course would be to give this course the amount of time it requires. The material itself is not difficult, but some chapters are long. I take notes as I read simply because that's just the way I learn best and that would take time especially on longer chapters. You have quizzes and sometimes additional homework so making sure you're done reading the chapter by the quiz date is important. There is a lot of opportunity for extra credit, but not letting yourself stay on top of work simply because of that could be your downfall. Time is on your side as long as you make sure to keep up.
