    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Portz made this class enjoyable. I was dreading to have to sit through another history lecture class, but Professor Portz made his students forget that we were even in a lecture. He would stop his teaching randomly just to ask questions to us students to make sure we were following what he was explaining, and if we did not grasp it fully, he would explain it in a different way.

    Course highlights:

Because of professor Portz, I was motivated to learn and understand the history of the US. I learned to look past the fact that I thought history was boring, to realize how interesting it is to look back and see how we reacted to certain situations, and how other countries reacted. I learned that without looking back on our history, we are bound to repeat it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the readings assigned in the syllabus, and take notes during the professors lessons. This class is only as hard as you make it on yourself. While yes, it is challenging, the learning process is 10x smoother if you put in the effort to really understand what you are studying and learning about.
