    Course Overview:

    This class is the beginning of your journey. The information provided is crucial to the start of your development as a professional counselor. It will teach you the basics of counseling and what theories, ethics and history of the profession. It takes you on a journey through the development to where we are now.

    Course highlights:

    I gained the knowledge of learning where counseling started and the theories that are utilized. The background on each theorist such as Freud, Erikson, Maslov, Gestalt and many more. The knowledge from this class incorporates itself in many to follow and allows you to determine if this is the right place for you.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

    Tips for this course is to pay attention to the theorists and what they developed. Their theories will come into play within each of the following courses you will take. A study tip would be to write down in a notebook who created what. You can add to this list as you go along and it will help with leaning the interventions and techniques.

    Course Overview:

    Introduction to the program and what was to be expected. The expectations started pretty quickly, and was a little hard to understand given never having been in an online program before. However, the content was great and it was easy to pick up on.

    Course highlights:

    Being in an online program, understanding how the teachers worked.

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Be on top of your assignments, the more you get done, the more free time you have. Pay attention to deadlines. Pay attention to requirements.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    This professor was so adept at getting his students involved in the discussion and material. I learned so much from him, and really wish I could take more classes with this professor.

    Course highlights:

    There was an emphasis on clinical research and how to conduct it in this course. Research methodology, and how to conduct it was an integral thing I learned in this course.

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

    Do it, you won't regret it. This is a course that all degree seekers should take, and take seriously.
