Pretty easy, overall.
Course Overview:
This course teaches students the basics of statistics with applications to biology. R language programming is also taught. The homework is manageable and includes topics that will be useful to the exams.
Course highlights:
I learned many of the important topics that will show up in future statistics courses. I was able to learn about the many different studies and tests such as the chi-squared test and paired t-tests. Many of the topics were similar to those learned in AP Statistics in high school. Something that was new, however was the computer language, R, which the professor taught the class during lectures on how to operate.
Hours per week:
3-5 hours
Advice for students:
I believe in order to succeed, the student must pay attention during class, but also be ready to do much of the reading on their own. This course involves many topics that are not able to be fully covered during lectures, so self teaching is also necessary.
