    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to students because it uses an API that offers developers the ability to build end-user applications. This enables you to skip through all the theory and actually build something useful in a few days rather than spending years learning Bayesian and other ML techniques. As a beginner, I suggest you go with something super simple -- such as document similarity analysis. For example, mining a large corpus of documents to find contextual similarities.

    Course highlights:

At the end of the course, the student should be able to: • Understand the main concepts of Artificial inteligence. • Understand the process problem identification, formulation, solving, and interpretation in the context problem environment. • Apply the concepts of AI research in real world problems.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

I truly enjoyed this course and really liked the student-professor interaction. I get nervous when I take online classes because you just never know. I was not disappointed.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a research field that studies how to realize the intelligent human behaviors on a computer. The ultimate goal of AI is to make a computer that can learn, plan, and solve problems autonomously. Although AI has been studied for more than half a century, we still cannot make a computer that is as intelligent as a human in all aspects. However, we do have many successful applications. In some cases, the computer equipped with AI technology can be even more intelligent than us. The Deep Blue system which defeated the world chess champion is a well-know example.

    Course highlights:

The main purpose of this course is to provide the most fundamental knowledge to the students so that they can understand what the AI is. Due to limited time, we will try to eliminate theoretic proofs and formal notations as far as possible, so that the students can get the full picture of AI easily. Students who become interested in AI may go on to the graduate school for further study.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

read widely and read to understand the course objectives
