    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it teaches you how email and The Web work. There is so much to it. It is something that everyone takes for granted... you send an email & the recipient gets it...simple! There is so many terms & concepts, such as: Terminal Services, Server Core, Server Manager, VPN, Infrastructure Services, Virtual Directory, HTTP, Ports, html, IIS, SSL, Authentication & Authorization, Domains, FTP, Certificate Authority, https://, C:\inetpub\wwwroot, Application Pools, SMTP, MUA, clients & servers, MAPI, IMAP4, POP3, Schema Master, GPO, TCP/UDP, EdgeSync, Mailboxes, Public Folders, OU's, Groups, AD, Parent/Child, SPAM, Firewall, Telnet, RPC LDAP, ADRMS, WDS, DHCP, DNS, Network Policies & Protocols, .NET Framework, ASP.net, UDDI Services, Tokens, Load Balancing, and don't get me started on trust issues & relationships. I think these computers have more intimacy issues than humans do!

    Course highlights:

I learned how it all works, in a nutshell. The course work and program rigor are very intense and fast paced at ITT. I am 45 years old and I have learned that I have to fight many issues to maintain my 4.0 GPA. I learn to help my fellow students and seek help outside of class to keep up. I spend so much time at the ITT campus in North Charleston, that some of the instructors thought I was an instructor there or employed there in some fashion! This course taught me a lot, I just hope I can retain some of it. :)

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the assignments, try to get ahead of the lecture so you have intelligent questions to ask when your instructor covers the lesson & it will be the second time you go over the material & it will make more sense, which will make the lab work much easier. You can also prepare your lab reports in advance to the class, which will help prep you for the lab work and hopefully give you the opportunity to finish the lab in class (with the benefit of the instructor). JUST KEEP UP & if you get behind: make the extra effort to catch up. Once you fall behind, it is extremely difficult to catch up and get any benefit from the lectures or instructor time.
