Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course was very informative as to the basics of computer structure and function as well as helpful in understanding important programs that are essential in the modern business arena. The first section of the class is very much about computers and systems, with a lot of vocabulary. I would recommend flashcards for this section and the corresponding exams. The application aspect of the class included tutorials and case exams of both Excel and Access. My greatest advice for this section would be to attend class in order to understand the material, take notes, and fully take advantage of every attempt you are given on the homework in order to receive the best score.

    Course highlights:

I gained a much more comprehensive knowledge of computers and computer systems that have benefited me at the workplace and in my own personal life. The lessons on security and privacy have helped me to better protect my personal information through data systems, and a basic understanding of technical processes has allowed me to troubleshoot technological failures that I otherwise would be unable to fix myself.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

ATTEND CLASS MEETINGS! Participation is part of your grade for one, but it is also imperative that you understand the modules and examples that are covered in detail in class. This will not only help your homework scores, but will better prepare you for the challenging case exams at the end of each section. Another tip, make flashcards for the vocabulary terms for both "Understanding Computers" tests as well as the final exam. This will help you more than you know. There are a lot of terms so it is best to use the study guides throughout the course, filling out each chapter's vocabulary sheet BEFORE you are cramming for the test or the exam.
