Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Herold does a great job of providing real life examples for all of the concepts discussed. She utilizes a hands-on approach to learning, which greatly helps in understanding the material. This course had a variety of assignments, like CogLabs, to help students to further comprehend the information.

    Course highlights:

Cognition is a fascinating subject. I didn't realize just how complex our cognitive processes were until taking this course. I especially enjoyed learning tips to help maximize retention of information while studying.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I recommend taking full advantage of the in-class participation assignments. These are designed to help you better understand the information being covered, and talking with classmates about it can provide great insight.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Challenging course and content, but Dr. P makes it accessible by trying to relate material to real-life and to the experiences of each student. Through robust in-class discussion, an end-of-semester applied group project, and "more than multiple-choice" exams, Dr. P used every strategy she can to really help you learn the material...and make learning it fun, too.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how we think, how cognitive shortcuts and biases can be adaptive but also problematic, I learned about how advertisers use cognitive psych to sell us stuff, among many other things. Fascinating!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Attend class, take notes and study the powerpoints!
