Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is the introductory class for those going to be in the School of Public Environmental Affairs.

    Course highlights:

SPEA-J101 was the course that made me switch my major to Pre-Law Criminal Justice in my senior year. It covered the the branches of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections. I learned all about the process in a criminal trial, who's involved in it, etc.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you're not too sure whether to pursue criminal justice (or, to a lesser extent, any other major under SPEA), take this course. It can narrow down your options in terms of which major you choose.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend everyone takes this course simply so they have a working knowledge of our criminal justice system. Everyone is so quick to have an opinion without truly knowing how it works.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of this course was that we actually went out into the community and did some volunteering that was included in our class work. We went into a re-entry facility in Indianapolis and talked with men who have been incarcerated and who were also about to leave the facility. This experience really connected with what we learned in the classroom.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

This is a hard class, simple as that. If you don't put in the time than you will not do well. I found study groups to be helpful, because you could compare your notes with your peers.
