    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course has the heaviest workload of any course I have ever taken. It is nearly impossible to stay afloat in the course and still have enough time to work or take other classes. There are at least two discussion posts at 250 words each, four comments on those posts at 150-200 words each, and then additional revisions and papers. For a 200-level course, the amount of work that I would consider busy work is unreal.

    Course highlights:

Honestly I didn't learn anything except how to appease the instructor. She is a stickler for word count and revisions. Final project literally says, "You are being evaluated on how well you revise, not on the quality of work." What?!

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Seriously, it is nearly impossible to do well in this course if you have a job or other commitments that take a significant amount of time.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Absolutely amazing course taught by a great professor.

    Course highlights:

The best part of the course was the freedom to write about pretty much anything you wanted. Of course, there were genres you had to write in or perhaps themes you had to include somehow in some pieces, but the possibilities were truly endless.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't put off the work! Also, Professor Pike is an avid poetry enthusiast--it's her favorite genre. You will spend the most time in that unit. Sometimes the critiques on poems say it's too abstract, but Pike loves concrete details--that's her style. It doesn't mean you always have to take her advice and alter your own style. Stick to your guns, she likes that too!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

    Manageable workload. Supportive Professor.

    Course highlights:

I was able to hone on and improve my writing skills. I also received an A in this course.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Be creative and do not fall behind on assignments.
