Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. In general, society has attached a stigma to mental health. In every sector of life, encounters will be had with those who are affected in one way or other. This class has taught me how to approach those affected and I appreciate the knowledge. Besides genetics, I learned that some head injuries can result in mental health issues such as schizophrenia. I was amazed at learning this. Prior to taking this course, I was not aware that Eating Disorders, Substance and Addiction Disorders were Mental Health conditions. There is much to learn on this subject so I highly recommend it.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the different categories of mental health disorders. These include, Schizophrenia Spectrum and other Psychotic Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders, Substance and Addictive Disorder, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Behavior Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Issues related to Human Sexuality and Gender Dysphoria, Trauma and Stress-Related Disorders, Suicide Prevention. I also learned the nursing interventions for each disorder, as well as cultural and spiritual concepts relevant to Mental Health Nursing.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take this course with a non-judgemental and open mind as there is much to learn. The knowledge gained is invaluable as it will be applicable in so many different areas of work.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Very good teacher. Made the information easy to learn. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in the nursing program. Mental Health is a must.

    Course highlights:

I was able to gain a love for the study of the mental health system. I have decided this is what I want to go into when I graduate from college. I know I can be a positive influence in this realm.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read everything given to and then some. Make sure to focus on communication. It is a very important part of the mental health realm of nursing. Don't be afraid to try something new and to be a compassionate person at all times.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I was worried I would not enjoy this class at all. To my surprise I LOVED the class, the book was easy to read, the power points easy to follow and the subjects really interesting.

    Course highlights:

The most fascinating thing I learned about were all the different types of personality disorders. I had no idea how many there were and how many could be confused with each other.

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Go in with an open mind! Read your book and use all the materials provided to you! It's an interesting class!
