Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Because this teacher truly cares about his students and wants them to be successful.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this class was learning about molecular structures. I learned how the structures look as three structures

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You need to study the information you learn throughout the week because the information comes fast.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class that I took was from 6-7:50 pm and so obviously it was a difficult class to concentrate in. The professor provided plenty of breaks to combat this, however, the material was nearly impossible. In introductory chemistry class should not be a weeding-out class. The entire department is like this. The class was difficult to pass an impossible to get a good grade in. Teachers in the department should teach better or the curriculum should be re-thought.

    Course highlights:

I did learn the basics of chemistry

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not rely on professors to teach this course. Buy the book, actually read it, and teach yourself the material. Use resources provided such as practice problems and online tutorials in order to not get caught off guard by tests that are much more difficult than the material taught in lecture.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor Shapiro is a very helpful professor. I never liked chemistry in high school and was extremely nervous to attempt a chemistry class in college. But to my surprise, Professor Shapiro made chemistry so easy. I was understanding the hard concepts because of the way she taught chemistry. I was able to receive an A all thanks to Professor Shapiro's teaching methods.

    Course highlights:

In this course, I was able to learn complicated math equations, learn the elements on the periodic table, learn Lewis structures and molecular geometry, and also learn how to balance chemical equations. My favorite part was drawing the Lewis structures. I loved being able to 'connect the dots' so to speak and understand the bonding between elements.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't skip class, ever! Chemistry is not an easy subject especially for students like me who are not math oriented. It was difficult at first but then I realized the more I practiced the easier it became. Always practice, the math portions become easier if you constantly practice. Don't be afraid to ask for help. I showed up to the tutoring center at least once a week. If I didn't receive the extra help I never would have received an A. Chemistry can be difficult but just put the extra effort and time into it and you will be fine.
