    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Learning about mental illness and thought disorders is one of the most interesting aspects of psychology. This course helps to understand these disorders better as well as being able to define them. The practical application at the end of the course serves as a guide for graduate work later down the road. There is so much to learn in this course.

    Course highlights:

I liked learning how to diagnose and treat psychological disorders. Being able to examine signs and symptoms of a psychological disorder is essential to being a therapist. Learning how to come up with a plan and be able to treat psychological disorders is the primary goal of therapist. I liked being able to select a historical figure and based on public knowledge, try to figure out what their disorder was and what form of treatment should be used. At the end of the class we perform a complete psychological evaluation and the figure we chose. It was an enjoyable as well as amazing experience.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Understand the differences between psychological disorders. Learn the different treatment options for disorders. be ready to write a complete psychological evaluation and plan of treatment during this course. If you have access to a DSM-5, you might want make sure you use it.
