    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

IAD is a year-long course that helps understand diversity through the various perspectives that each student and faculty brings along with them in class. It helps discuss intercultural differences, privileges, oppression, etc. in a safe environment.

    Course highlights:

I learnt about various ethnicity different than my own. I learnt about their history, their culture, their religious believes, their family structures and norms, their struggles, their education, and so on. I learnt various techniques as a therapist in understanding and respecting people from different ethnicity, as well as treating them keeping in mind what is culturally important and acceptable to them, instead of being judgmental.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Take this as an opportunity to discuss your own feelings and experiences about diversity and cultural differences, as this is a safe place to do so. Keep an open mind and be welcoming of the differences between you and your classmates, as well as the faculty. Try to use this knowledge to your best while treating clients of various ethnicity.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was extremely insightful and eye opening. I believe this is one of the most beneficial courses one needs to take in order to have a good foundation for understanding how to deal with varying clients' issues in the future.

    Course highlights:

A couple of the highlights of this course were finally coming to a realization of how ignorant I actually was and being able to use that recognition to move forward in my academic and professional career in order to help myself as well as future potential clients.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you complete all of the readings. Not only are the readings beneficial and crucial to understanding the coursework, it is an integral part of understanding the processes of becoming more intercultural aware.
