    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry is absolutely enjoyable if you're a hands-on learner. Drawing and visualizing reactions makes up a lot of the course, so it's nice being able to see the material rather than it just simply being words.

    Course highlights:

We learned the basics of organic chemistry along with a LOT of important reactions.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Set aside time everyday to review and master material you learn that day. Trying to catch up is very difficult.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The professor was awesome! The professor was lively, and made a good effort to make the class interesting.

    Course highlights:

You learn all the essentials of orgo; naming, chirality, elimination and substitution reactions and their mechanisms, Newman projections, energy pathways, intermediate products, electron pushing, and a whole host of other things. Honestly, finding out how common medicines/products work on a molecule level (depressants, antihistamines, enzymes/proteins, etc).

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If your studys habits aren't working for you, go to tutoring and supplemental instruction. The type of thinking needed for organic chem is somewhat out of the box, and your tutors/TA's/SI leaders will help you on how to think about the course material. It's a much more artistic science than most would think!
