Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course to any student due to the extensive knowledge this course offers. I learned a lot about the history and different works of art throughout Asia. This course also offered information and knowledge about different time periods throughout history that tell extraordinary stories. Not knowing much about Asian culture or history before, I began to open my mind and gain more insight into Asian culture and my own culture. I began to see things in different perspectives and understanding reasons behind certain objectives and certain works of art that I would not have known before.

    Course highlights:

I am very passionate about history and art history so the entire course was a highlight. To give a few specifics, the information about the different dynasties and how each dynasty had a different specialty or invention sparked curiosity. I wanted to learn more and more throughout each lecture, which made each class gathering fly by. The Tang Dynasty really stuck out to me because that was the golden age of literature and art within Asian history. The sancai-glazed horse sculptures really emphasized the intricate technique and detail artists used in this time period.

    Hours per week:

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, thorough notes and outside work is key. There a plethora of information to learn, but as long as you stay on task, pay attention, utilize the professor's office hours, and manage your time effectively you will succeed in this class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Great course that dives in depth to many of the topics intellectual underpinnings rather than simply listing off artifacts that must be memorized.

    Course highlights:

The readings that occur throughout the course really bring the artifacts alive. They are only several pages each, maybe 10 pages a week in total, but they add a lot of depth to the course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take detailed notes during the class period as the teacher covers a lot of the material there and this will help minimize the amount of outside effort you need to put into the course.
