    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you do not have to take this course, if you already have credit for it, or if it is not a requirement for your program, do not take it. From personal experience, it was a needlessly confusing and challenging course. I took calculus in high school, but because I didn't get credit for it, I had to retake it in my first semester at McGill. Having done very well in high school, I was expecting this class to be straightforward. However, the concepts were taught in a very confusing way, and the lack of communication between TAs and the prof meant that the tutorials and the lectures did not correspond, which made the tutorials confusing as well.

    Course highlights:

There were no true highlights in this course. I think I am too much of a hands-on learner to feel like I was actually learning. It is a very big class, so I felt disconnected from the teacher. Additionally, she would be talking the entire lecture and would not stop to give us time to solve problems.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the webworks because they can help boost your grade. Do textbook problems throughout the entire semester. Working with friends can also be an enormous help.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I personally really like Calculus, and the professor is awesome.

    Course highlights:

Half of the course was review from High school. If you took calculus in High School it shouldn't be too hard.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do practice problems in the textbook throughout the year on your own time.
