Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a very useful course for English students. It is compulsory with good reason- it teaches you how to examine poetry, from the style and genre (sonnet, epic, ode etc.) to the meters and rhyme schemes used. This course will teach you the evolution of English poetry and prepare you well for future studies.

    Course highlights:

This course teaches how to analyze and comment on poetry and short stories with far more precision and detail that high school or 200 level courses at McGill.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

When taking this course, as well as any English course, it is crucially important to keep up to date on all the readings. You do not want to be reading a semester's worth of literature a week (or weekend!) before the final.
