Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Bishop does a wonderful job of involving students and ensuring that they are learning without intimidating them. In this course, I got an incredibly thorough introduction to biology. Dr. Bishop took complex concepts and made them graspable, and she didn't hesitate to give extra time to a student needing help. Without being unfair to the class's hard workers or simply too easy, she demonstrated a genuine desire for us as students to learn and exceed as we studied biology together.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Bishop put a helpful and heavy emphasis on the chemical basis for life. I learned a lot in the realm of molecular biology that I never got in high school biology classes. She also provided helpful introductory material for many other more specific scientific disciplines, including not only chemistry, but also environmental science, marine biology, and other more specific biologies.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Unlike many regular college classes, the science courses offered by Barton Community College involve three hours of class every weekday, so you will need to be prepared to spend a lot of time in the classroom. Be sure to take careful and thorough notes in class, and be prepared to write a brief paper on biodiversity for extra credit, if you'd like. Also, watch your assignments on the Barton website careful so as to stay on top of your deadlines. If you do all of these things, you will do well.

    3-5 hours
