Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course, because the professor was very laid back and did not make you feel anxious or nervous. I was very scared to take a speech class, because I am shy and not outgoing. The way the course was taught though, made me feel more calm and relaxed.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the in-class discussions we had. The professor did not talk at us, he talked with us. He wanted to get the students opinions on things and encouraged group discussions. I learned how to effectively write and prepare for a speech with note cards. I was also able to overcome my fear of public speaking.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students to make sure they read the chapters in the textbook to better prepare for writing speeches. Also, I would recommend students take part in group discussions in class and get other students' perspectives.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to other students because public speaking is a skill that every person, no matter his or her age, should learn. Every student is more than likely going to college to get a higher education, which they can later on pursue a job in his or her field of interest; with that being said, typically every job consists of communicating with others, whether it be his or her co-workers and/or his or her customers. Therefore, I recommend some sort of speech class to every single student, no matter what his or her major is because he or she will need the skill of communication for any job he or she will pursue later on in life.

    Course highlights:

The main highlight of this course for me was getting over my fear of public speaking. Before taking this class, I would have never gotten up and spoken in front of others for minutes on end; although, now I would have no problem doing that because this course made me overcome that fear of mine. Throughout the course not only did I learn about the many different forms of speaking, but I also learned how to properly prepare and give the many different types of public speeches. Overall, I enjoyed this course very much, and learned many different skills for becoming great at speaking to and in front of others.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Whether you are terrible at speaking in front of others or great at it, "Fundamentals of Speech Communication" is a challenging class that will teach you in depth about different forms of public speaking, which will help you throughout your entire life especially later on in whatever career you wish to pursue; I highly recommend all students to take this course, no matter his or her level of public speaking.
