    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Got an excellent professor really knows how to effectively teach organic chemistry to the class

    Course highlights:

From functional groups to the mechanisms of an reaction, organic chemistry I covers the basics of everything you needed to know. There are elimination and substitution reactions as well as the stereochemistry and free radical reactions, which will be the main focused topics.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make notecards of the different types of reactions and the reagents used. Go to review sessions and makes sure to go over class-notes after each class and make sure they make sense. If not, ask for help. Skim over the textbook and do practice problems from the textbook and make sure you understand the basic concepts.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a very tough course that requires a lot of outside studying. I don't recommend Hansen as a professor because he does not adequately explain things or teach as well as he should. Very nice guy but not the best teacher unfortunately.

    Course highlights:

From this course I learned about how to draw organic structures and reaction mechanisms. I also learned how to teach myself course material because class was not helpful.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

GET THE BOOK! That is what got me through the course. Also, make sure to attens PLUS sessions and go to office hours to ask questions. This class is very tough so just try your best and you will be fine.
