Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The class size was comfortable and allowed for good input and participation

    Course highlights:

We learned the types and functions of different types of speeches. I was able to improve my ability to speak in front of people and to reduce anxiety about public speaking

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pick familiar topics to speak about. Use what you know. Be familiar with your audience. Dual credit courses allow you to pick up college credit while in high school. The credits are affordable, but make sure that the college you choose after high school will accept them.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Not only is the class a requirement to graduate but it also helps with public speaking anxiety. I took this course this fall and giving speeches wasn't as bad as I thought. I will say though that if you don't have public speaking experience be prepared because it is terrifying but it is great knowing that you can speak to a group.

    Course highlights:

I thought that giving the speeches was the highlight of the course. I learned that preparing a speech takes a lot of time and patience. I didn't just learn about public speaking but I learned some things about myself. I am a shy person and I was terrified about taking this class because of giving speeches. I learned that giving speeches gets easier the more you practice and it makes you better as well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this class you have to have speeches prepared on time or you will get a letter grade deduction. The only way to pass this course is to get good grades on your speeches because they are the majority of your grade. I found the hardest part of this class was getting speeches done on time because of time conflict with other classes. Therefore I was under a lot of stress. My advice is work hard to do your homework and absolutely do not leave writing your speeches for the last minute because it is impossible to stay caught up.
